ABOUT BHUTA


BHUTA (Bharathiar University Teachers Association) is a Teachers Association duly registered under Section 10 of the Tamil Nadu Society Registration Act, 1975 along with the statutory approval of Bharathiar University and functioning in the University campus from 1986 to till date. BHUTA was also recognized by the syndicate in 1994 (E2/5746/1993 dated: 4.1.1994). The main motto of the BHUTA is to protect the welfare of the teachers working in Bharathiar University from the date of registration (2.5.1986). Since the inception, the office bearers of the BHUTA were elected in every two years by the members of the BHUTA who are faculty of Bharathiar University. The responsibilities of the BHUTA are to keep the Integrity among the faculty To fight for the rights of the faculty if affected by any sort of discrimination. The expenses related to BHUTA are met by the Subscription fees collected by the BHUTA members annually. BHUTA also organises various faculty welfare programmes and scientific events to boost the integrity and enthusiasm and awareness among the teaching faculty. BHUTA always work for any grievances related to the members of the Association.

Bhuta Initiatives and Achievements

  • BHUTA always strives to work for the welfare of the faculty members of Bharathiar University.
  • In the year 2023, the renewal of BHUTA registration was initiated. 36 years of external audits are completed and the files are submitted to the Inspector General of Registration, Chennai. Renewal of BHUTA registration will be successfully completed by 2026.
  • Constituted a Bylaw amendment committee to review the existing bylaws of BHUTA established in 1986 and to carry out amendments.
  • BHUTA is meticulously working towards representation of faculty grievances and common issues to the Higher education ministers, Higher education Secretaries, and to the University administration and resolving the same.
  • BHUTA has played a vital role in insisting the administration and implementing Headship rotation in Bharathiar University in October 2025.
  • On a regular basis, BHUTA honours the Higher Education Secretaries, newly constituted VC committee members and outgoing VC Committee members, Registrar and Controller of Examinations, newly appointed Directors, Heads of the Departments, and TANSA awardees from BU.
  • BHUTA played a significant role in the appointment of Registrar and Controller of Examinations by giving Direct representation to the Higher Education Secretary. Also insisted to make regular appointment of key administrative positions such as Director SDE, Director UGC MMTTC, PRO, Dean CDC.
  • BHUTA requests the appointment of Faculty in charges in the Administrative Sections such as the Establishment section, Finance section, and C section to manage workload and avoid delays in file processing. This request was approved by the Higher Education Secretary and he has directed the Registrar to implement the same at the earliest.
  • BHUTA has played a key role in the appointment of guest faculty in the academic year 2025-2026, which was not done in the academic year 2024-2025.
  • Requested the administration to form a committee and sort out the Pay fixation differences between our University faculty and Government College Faculty.
  • With the sponsorship of Bank of India, diaries were gifted to all faculty for New Year 2025.
  • Sweets and savouries were gifted to all BHUTA members on occasion of Deepavali 2025.
  • On account of Teachers day 2025, coffee mug was gifted to all the members.
  • BHUTA has taken initiatives to issue Vehicle pass to all the University staff and also obtained permission for our staff members to use the adjacent Anna University road to reach Kanuvai road.
  • Insisted the administration to follow strict seniority in additional in charges post which was placed in syndicate and approved.
  • BHUTA has requested the administration to implement File tracking system to speed up the academic / administrative procedures.
  • BHUTA has given representation to strengthen the Legal wing of University by appointing experienced Lawyer and resolve the legal issues at the earliest.
  • BHUTA suggests to install watch tower for security purposes and to create water ponds to deter wild animals from entering the University premises, and the work is currently in progress. Also, the broken compound walls are renovated, bushes are cleared, speed breakers are installed near all Departments, and proper maintenance of the buildings are ensured.
  • Based on the request from SDE faculty, their names have been included in the website and academic calendar in the Roll of Faculty. Further request was made for their guide approval.
  • Insisting the administration to fill the Syndicate vacancy under Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, as University representation.
  • Urged the administration to call for CAS every year regularly in order to avoid the delays in promotion and arrear settlement.
  • Continuous requests are given to the administration to give the CAS arrears to all the eligible faculty members, who got their promotion orders in the year 2022.
  • Continuously insisting the administration to clear all the audit objections related to past service, refresher course and others.
  • Retirement felicitation function to honour the professors Dr.T.Radhakrishnan (Physical Education), Dr. R. Jaisankar (Statistics), Dr A. Manimekalan (Environmental Sciences) was organized with lunch to all the BHUTA members on 29.04.25.
  • With the sponsorship of Bank of India, diaries were gifted to all faculty for New Year 2024.
  • Retirement felicitation function was organized to honour Dr. V. Vijayapadma (Biotechnology), Dr.P.Shanmugavel (Bioinformatics), Dr. K.Murugavel (Physical Education) with lunch to all the BHUTA members on 26.04.24.
  • Requested the administration to speed up the file processing in various sections which is submitted for approval / permission from the authorities.
  • Urged the administration to make fresh appointment for the post of Audit coordinator in the University.
  • The grievances of the 12th plan faculty were represented to the administration.
  • BHUTA has taken efforts to resolve the issues in Human genetics, Applied Mathematics, Physics and Textiles & Apparel Design departments.
  • With the sponsorship, sweets were gifted to all BHUTA members on occasion of Deepavali 2023.
  • BHUTA has taken steps to expedite the staff quarters allotment based on seniority.
  • Representation given to provide Gratuity benefits to Retired Professors as per the government norms.
  • BHUTA has helped two retired professors (Dr. Singaravelu and Dr.Rajendran) for their retirement fund benefit. Also, continuous steps were taken to issue the retirement benefits to Dr. Uma, who served as Asst. Librarian in the University as a result of which, fund was released to her.
  • Represented to maintain cleanliness of the washrooms in all the departments.
  • BHUTA has taken efforts to inaugurate the newly constructed academic buildings and to shift the departments to the new buildings at the earliest. Also based on request from BHUTA, a new space committee was reconstituted by the administration and allotment of new buildings was made to resolve the space constraints faced by various departments. Request was given to provide Internet connectivity to all the new buildings.
  • On account of Teachers day 2024, personalised key chain and pen were gifted to all the members.
  • BHUTA insisted the administration to adhere to the rate contract for the purchase of chemicals for research.
  • BHUTA has submitted a proposal to the administration to allot special syndicate membership to BHUTA president and Senate membership to BHUTA Secretary as in other Universities like Madras University.
  • With the help of administration, removed the Acacia plants in the premises of SDE and nearby areas.
  • Groceries and vegetables for two days were given to the people of leprosy colony people in Marudhamalai adivaram by BHUTA.
  • Provided essential supplies to the people affected by GAJA cyclone in 2018.
  • BHUTA played a vital role in the food committee of the vice-chancellor’s conference held at Bharathiar University.
  • Taken steps to fix the Principal ages in the affiliated colleges.
  • Insisted the administration to comply with UGC regulations and the High Court verdict in the appointment and permissible tenure of Principal in SF colleges.
  • Taken steps to provide the vehicle pass for all faculty members.
  • BHUTA has given representation during the NAAC committee visit in 2023.
  • A cancer awareness program was conducted by GEM hospital in association with BHUTA.
  • Associated with GEM hospital in Coimbatore Women’s marathon 2024, and provided free registration, T-shirts and dinner for around 150 participants from university.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by BHUTA and GEM hospital to create cancer awareness and to provide free cancer treatment to students and faculty members.
  • Has supported two non-teaching women staff members affected by cancer.
  • Sixteen new faculty members from Bharathiar University PG Extension Center and School of Distance Education are enrolled as members of BHUTA.
  • Staged a protest to achieve the common goals of the university.
  • Initiated the formation of a committee for preparing the seniority list of faculty members in October 2022.
  • Taken steps for the appointment of two syndicate members at the level of Associate professor and Assistant professor and the same was done by the VC in October 2022.
  • Given representation to appoint the Chief Warden and Hostel wardens as per the University norms.
  • Initiatives were taken to appoint CDC Dean, Chief warden and Hostel wardens on seniority basis.
  • Insisted the administration to resolve the pay fixation and increment related issues faced by the Faculty members.
  • Insisted the administration to comply with UGC regulations and the High Court verdict in the appointment and permissible tenure of Principal in self-financing colleges.
